February is Love Our Local Authors month! The
NL Public Libraries are taking a fresh approach to celebrating local books and authors this year. From 2018 to 2023, NL Reads focused on a four-month competition between four new local books. Each title had a reader advocate, with the winning title determined by popular voting online and in-person at the NL Reads finale.
In 2024, NL Reads shifted focus in order to celebrate more new local books. The Must-Read Book of the Year will be determined based on patron demand and NLPL staff feedback from around the province.
Ten of NLPL's top circulating NL books for 2023 are up for Must-Read Book of the Year, including two Flanker Press titles!
